  We bought our wonderful apartment in Meia Praia in September 2013, having been carefully and diplomatically guided through the whole process by Deanna of Marcela properties. The visits were conducted thoroughly in a pleasant and constructive atmosphere, full account being taken of the vendor and the purchaser’s requirements. This patient and dignified approach (not to be found everywhere on the Algarve!) was definitely conducive to a successful sale and reassuring for both parties. We are delighted with our purchase and looking forward to great holidays and a sunny retirement.   I would like to share our experience of selling our villa in Vale da Telha, Aljezur with anyone who is trying to sell their property, and considering using Marcela Propriades as their selling agent.

  We had our property for sale for a year, advertising with an internet company who charged a one off fee upfront.  Obviously, the first thought is that this would save the commission fee payable when you sell your property through an agent. What you don’t think about when you don’t live in Portugal is the cost of flights to show prospective purchasers the property, and the hassle that goes with it.

  I received a telephone call from Helen Sands from the Aljezur offices of Marcela Propriades, asking if we would consider letting them sell our property, which we agreed to do.  We had viewers immediately, which was always followed by feedback from Helen or Graeme.

  They took all the pressure off us to sell the property, which they did within a couple of months.  If I had any questions, their reply was always instant.  They were always contactable, whether it was night, morning or weekends.

  They successfully negotiated the deal for us, secured a holding deposit, arranged a solicitor, and held our hands throughout the complete process.  They were very professional throughout, always approachable and  therefore we would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to sell their property.

  From our very first contact with Helen Sands of Marcela Properties we have had a consistent, attentive and very happy experience. My husband went to visit the Vale da Telha area in May 2012 and Helen not only showed him a selection of properties but also show him the facilities around the area.  We both visited in October 2012 and Helen was fully aware of our budget and requirements and showed us some properties patiently listening to our needs and requests.  On placing our initial offer Helen always communicated promptly and accurately, letting us know the legal and fiscal obligations entailed.  Our offer was accepted and we exchanged in January 2013, which meant Helen was busy during the Christmas holidays coordinating the sale.  Since our purchase, the support and advice of Marcela Properties does not end there! Helen gave us great advice and contacts with property maintenance, pool maintenance, insurance, banking etc etc.  Having the office in Aljezur has been a fantastic bonus during 2013 as we can pop into Helen and just say hello or ask for her advice......priceless!   We spent two years working with Helen to sell our home in the West Algarve.  It was an incredibly difficult time in the market, but Helen stuck with us and worked diligently to find the right buyers.  Over that period she made a wonderful effort to keep in contact with us and provide updates.

  Furthermore Helen was excellent in dealing with all paperwork, Solicitors, the Camara, and Architects.  Helen has great capacity to follow-through in all areas of real estate, whether it is confirming approval from the Camara or retrieving proper documentation from Solicitors.  Her vast knowledge of the market and the region are of great benefit to any client.  Additionally, both Helen and Graeme have extensive contacts in the Algarve which proved extremely helpful to us.
